Kids Polymer Clay and Bead Stringing
Kids ages 8 and up will learn how to make colorful patterned beads with polymer clay, the bake in the toaster oven plastic clay. We will talk about designing elements and color theory. After our beads are cured, we will use the bead design board to create a beautiful necklace using our handmade beads and accents of glass, ceramic and colorful acrylic beads. Material Kits: $15
Summer Youth Camp 2010 at San Diego Art Department
Ages 6-12 (10% sibling discounts & scholarships available). This summer, SDAD presents five week-long art workshops where kids can discover and imagine new ways to try their ideas with art. Our summer workshops take place in the professional art studios of our North Park facility. Each weekly workshop includes two classes. Week 2 features morning classes with Stephanie Lavender teaching Printmaking and Screenprinting and afternoon classes with Denise Bonaimo teaching Jewelry Design and Creation. See descriptions below. All materials are included in the fee.

This class promises to be fun and enlightening! Jewelry Design & Creation: Imagine making your own wearable art! We will explore bead stringing and design, polymer clay bead making and get creative with recycled materials.

Just Jewelry Summer Camp at Spanish VillageKids age 6 and up are invited to join professional jewelry designer, Denise Bonaimo, for a whole entire week of exploring the fun of jewelry making. Learn to design and assemble jewelry made from beads, found objects and vintage recycled jewelry. We will also learn to stamp letters on metal and use jewelry pliers. Fee includes all materials.
Please bring a hat, sunscreen, water and a half-time snack.
Email artdiva@bonaimo to register today. Girl Scout -Badge Workshops Denise is a certified collaborator for Girl Scouts of America. Daisies, Brownies, Juniors and Cadets will learn various elements of jewelry design and creation as well as art -to-wear and folk arts. Work on Try-its, Badges and IP's! Classes take place on the patio of Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park, or invite Denise to your next troop meeting. (Add a one time $15 fee for each off-site visit.) No experience necessary. Beaded Bracelet/ Necklace Classes Learn how to design, string and finish a beaded bracelet. We will talk about design elements such as color, balance and scale as well as finishing techniques, make preliminary sketches, use the bead board to lay out our design and string a bracelet or necklace. Polymer Clay Bead Design Learn to work with the colorful polymer based clay that bakes in the toaster oven. We will learn to marbleize and assemble jelly roll and flower patterns to create a set of beads. Badge Classes Depending on the length of time, Denise will complete as many of the requirements for the badge as possible. You can discuss the specifics when scheduling your class. Please note that larger groups may require more time. Additional 1/2 hours billed at a flat fee of $15.
